YAPILANDIRMA
/dev/null ve /dev/zero aygıtı aşağıdaki komutlarla oluşturulabilir:
mknod -m 666 /dev/null c 1 3 mknod -m 666 /dev/zero c 1 5 chown root:root /dev/null /dev/zero
AÇIKLAMA
/dev/null ve /dev/zero aygıtına yazılan veri yok edilir.
/dev/null aygıtından okuma işlemi daima dosya sonu ile dönerken (yani read(2) 0 döndürür) /dev/zero aygıtından okuma işlemi daima '\0' karakteri döndürür.
Bu aygıtlar tüm kullanıcılar için okunabilir ve yazılabilir olmazsa çoğu uygulama tuhaf davranabilir.
Linux 2.6.31'den beri, /dev/zero aygıtından okuma işlemleri sinyallerle kesilmektedir. Bu değişiklik, /dev/zero aygıtından yapılan büyük okumalardan kaynaklanan istenmeyen gecikmeleri azaltmaya yardımcı olmak içindir.
